JBP question

2 years 5 months ago #52421 by Jon
I have recently inflicted some extreme torture to my poor little JBP with wire and a couple of branch benders!
It's the first time I've done something like this and especially to a JBP.

How long should I keep the benders and wire on?

Just replace the benders with guy wires.

Thank you Peter, I'm not sure if I have enough bend in the trunk to anchor it, but I can give it a go.

Cheers

Cable ties and guy wires with some structural engineering thinking Jon. Try to achieve it to enable the removal of all the unnecessary wire and parafinalia. You would be surprised how little you really need, it's not a big trunk to bend.

Thanks again Peter, I hadn't thought about cable ties.... I'll put my thinking cap on and see what I can do.

Thanks again Peter for your help.
I removed the benders and existing guy wires and started again, but this time I only used cable ties.
Not only was it easier, it was faster and now makes the tree look a whole lot tidier.

I have to confess, when I worked on it a couple of days ago, I was bending it for the sake of bending without any goal, direction or future growth plan.
When I redid it this afternoon, I spent more time looking at it and figuring out where I wanted it to go.

So now I have a new front with more promise than what I had.

I'm open to comments and direction.

Cheers
Jon
