Bonsai Potting Media and Waterlogged Juni

6 years 4 days ago #40344 by JC
Hi Guys

Thanks for helping Suzy out.

I only just found out about it.

I took two types with me up there as in a fine Pebble Crete Brown type they wanted to use for the top of the pots.

I also took another one that was a larger dark grey washed pebble for the top as well, they should have used this.

It will be the problem regarding the smaller stones blocking the drainage mesh & daming up.

As you said probally dont need it anyway.

Once again thanks for advising her.

Sorry to hear the end of your juni. Did it just drop the needles? Have a look and see what the soil was like! I don't like losing plants be it. Bonsais or other but it happens. Just a little learning curve. Better luck next time. :(
Cheers Rod

Thank you

Suzanne.
There is only one reason I don't like junis and that is once they decide to cark (kark?) it, in the majority of cases, in my experience, it is almost impossible to bring them back from the brink. Other than that they are my favourites. I've lost a few good ones in the last 30 years Suzanne so don't be too discouraged.

The last pic should be slotted in between # 2 and #3. These trees died for no obvious reason that I could tell.
The last tree is the one that was used in Canberra as a demo Shimpaku in 2013. It was given back to me in perfect health (pic #1)I think I repotted it too soon. It had been in the polystyrene box for years.
Cheers...Brian

Thank you Brian, wow your photos make me feel not so alone and sad that I lost mine. I know that everybody has one die on them sometime but the heart break and sadness can really keep you awake at night trying to figure out what you did wrong.
Thankyou for your comfort photos.
