The Bundy Boys

G`day all , I thought it would be nice to share some pics of a few of the forum lads in the early days. Not long after I started Bonsai I joined the Bundaberg Bonsai group, it was very informal group.
I loved it, and have some very fond memories of our days in Brians backyard. We were all helped each other and were not too shy to give an honest opinion.
Cheers Rod.
This was at a local market. Brian Inglis on the left , me , Brian Bishop and a young Shannon.

Shannon, I dont think he was even shaving then

A mate who we have lost contact with Vin, he is next to a Juni I had styled.

Brian I at the local show

most of our work was done in the backs of our utes, this is Brian I, and Brian B.

That is a terrific sequence of memories. I don't have a photo of when Brian Smith was totally gobsmacked with Brian Bishop's bloody great turntable whic needed a forklift to get it onto his truck but if I can find his website it will come up titled something like "Bonsai Bundaberg Style" Thanks for the post mate. Vinnie looks good too. I think Shannon was about 12 when he joined us.
Cheers

Iv just joined an informal bonsai club as well lol feels good to train tree and shoot the sh*t with a bunch of like minded individuals without ego or inhibitions.

Thanks for sharing.

For Brian Bishop - mate, I think the fig you asked me about in the thimble pot could be the one at the far right of the second bottom shelf with me at the Bundy show

It should be remembered that we first met at Gavin's place and it was one Saturday at his place and next at mine. rEMEMBER THE DAY THAT BLOODY GREAT SNAKE came through our workshop and we all ended up on the table?

Rod, Thanks for pictorial history of a bloody good time in our lives.
Seeing Vinnie brings back some very funny memories eh?
Pity you didn't have a shot of Sylvia our only lady BSA (NO NO that's Bon Sai Artist)
Brian: I believe you are right about the thimble fig.

That's right mate. We had something that no other club had - no meetings, no minutes, no treasurer, no money, no fees - we just did bonsai. We rubbished each other, gave Sylvia, Vinnie and Hoog and me a hard time, but we did some good stuff.
Cheers

This is a Claret Top that Hoog dug out of a garden. I will try to find the material he started with

Great memories guy's and some of the greatest times of my life, to me you were among my best friends and age was no factor. Today I can only dream of being apart of a club like had back then, now days there is to much political crap, do's and don'ts .
About time for a reunion, thanks for sharing the pictures mate.
