I think Rod is a genius, not just as a bonsai stylist, but for starting this thread. It won't stop here. This thread will be ongoing for a long time

Keep it going Brian, it's very interesting seeing you guys reminiscing about old times - and having the photos and memories to back it up.

Taffy

G'day B Boys,
Yeah I remember the story about Vinnie belting his head with the tree digger outerer. Best place he could have hit himself really. It wouldn't have hurt (wood has no feeling) I think he was just embarrassed. He could get stroppy though eh? I think he was the only member of our little group who took our relentless badgering to heart. He was great value though.

G'day All,
This is an example of the tree digger that Vinnie belted himself with. Bloody heavy.

Thanks also gents for allowing we Bundy Boys to waffle on like a bunch school girls at a reunion.
My favourite time was when we used to have a showing of own trees at either a school fete, markets or the annual show. When the punters used to ohh and ahh over the trees I can tell you I felt like Mr Miaghi for a while . No point having nice trees if you don't show them to the public.
Appreciate all your comments
Hope we haven't bored you too much.
Cheers...Brian

A great thread, it captures the essense of what bonsai is all about in my opinion.

Brian,

I remembered when Brian was kind enough to post up the plan for that digger on here a while back.

Brian's Tree Digger

Keep the photo's coming Gents.

My first attempt in 1968. It was a Crepe Myrtle that wouldn't grow in the yard. One must keep on being humble.
