Very cool
I happen to have quite a few microcarpa cuttings about this size all from the same original tree so genetically the same and have been thinking I should try this

I had 3 F. rubiginosa doing nothing much. I fused them together several years ago by firstly removing some outer layer of bark to generate some milky sap flow, then drilling a hole through the trunks and screwing one trunk to the other with brass screws. The sap acted as a glue, and this was modestly supplemented with Japanese cut paste. The tree has a diameter of 10 cm and a canopy of more than 40cm.
