Aerial roots

2 weeks 22 hours ago #61156 by Leong Kwong
Aerial roots on figs are normal and it can be very attractive in the right place and not too many. It can also be a problem if is far away from the trunk on the end of a branch. It stand a chance one could loose the branch when the aerial root established itself. Here is one of them. This is a clients tree.

Hi Leong

If it was mine I would consider getting rid of half that apex and starting again as you say.

Great example of what could happen and very wise words but any thoughts on how to stop this happening.?

Is it a matter of keeping the root well trimmed so they do not get to thick?

Is quite easily achieved, just cut off those that is far away from the main trunk and keep those that is closer if you like them. Hope this helps.
Yours sincerely
Leong
