Jaboticaba

Hi There

Thought that I'd share a more recent introduction to the bonsai garden that I did the other day.( A mate of mine once said that you can always find room for another bonsai)

This is a jaboticaba that I purchased from a RS nursery at the back of the Wauchope RSL over 30years ago.(The nursery has long since gone & it is the clubs car park now)

I had it in the ground for a number of years and last year lifted it out & placed it into a waste paper bin to recover as I didn't have a pot at the time and we were still developing the bonsai garden area.

So here she is happily in her new permanent position soaking up the sun, hope you like her.

It has an unusual trunk base to it JC, was it planted deeper than it is now?
Would I be right to say it's just finished fruiting, all of them up here still have fruit or are just dropping now.
That's an awesome result for a lot of years.

Hi Watty

No that's about the height it was planted. It was in crappie clay for the last 10years.

It has never fruited maby because it was shaded where it was in the ground.

I'm hoping that it fruits next year, would be a treat to see it with the fruit on the trunk and branches.

There is a fig in Vietnam that does the same thing fruits on the trunk.

Hi There

Well, it was time today for a root prune and a new pot, I still have to give it another haircut to tidy it up.

Oh and I am a parent as well.
