Here is my tree today a few days after the workshop on sunday.
pretty damn happy with the results!!!
Great result mate, the 2nd from that batch of juni's and shows how much of a feel you are gaining for them. This will be a world class tree in time.
"Nice work Hugh! Great use of carving to hide the materials faults. Correct me if I'm wrong Hugh but this was the same juniper posted for sale on the B/S forum.
Now to chase the roots around hey.
Congrats again.
Shannon. "
From the same batch but a slightly smaller one than was listed, I do not recall every detail of Hugh's tree but am fairly certain most of the jin & shari is natural & came as a result of the location the plants originally grew (a play ground, of sorts).

As matt just wrote, it was collected from a sports field along with heaps of others about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago i think.
we believe its Juniperus horizontalis 'plumosa', Leong was pretty sure of it.
No carving on this fella at all. well not with power tools anyway. the stobs that were cut at collecting and were worked a week beore the workshop by splitting and rolling the wood like what ryan did in the demo.
My mind keeps wondering back to the pine
That ryan did at the demo.
The pictures don't do justice to
How impressive this tree is and will be in the future as it is further refined
Look forward to watching the development of this tree
It will hold a special place in the future of Australian bonsai
Long way off yet Adam. First it have got to get its vigor back after all those trimming, banding and the cracks with the bends, then the next stage of development. So far so good, is early stage yet. Also one have to remember this is a fair age pine and also doing out of season, and the issues that accompany what has been done to this pine. Fingers crossed we did prepare this pine for the expected kind of work and hope the preparation will have the vigor to get it through. I am doing what I usually do with pines after such a work up, only time will tell.
Yours sincerely.
Leong.
