Early flowering Prunus mume

4 weeks 1 day ago #61657 by Farmer J
I have occasionally noted unusual horticultural happenings, and these are no exception. I have several developing Prunus mume, grown on their own roots, and they are now starting to flower. Being the start of winter in Australia, and living inland, this seems a month earlier than it should. How does this fit with other peoples experiences? Are seedlings more variable than those grafted to root stock?
Cheers
FJ

Pretty normal. If the cold start early they flower early.
Thanks
